Day Three

Introduction to using audio

Today we are going to learn how to make an audio recording using the classroom computers.

follow these step-by-step instructions to create your first audio sample:

1) Open up GarageBand on your computer.
2) Choose to create a Podcast when you open up the program.
3) Title your sample Podcast with your first name, last name, and your groups country.
4) Start recording your voice by selecting the male or female voice round record button, and then the large red record button at the bottom of the screen.

5) Record yourself reading one of your assignments from day one or two.
6) Once you have finished your recording save it by choosing the file tab and selecting save.
7) Next choose Share at the top of your toolbar and select share Podcast to iTunes.
8) Open up itunes and locate the file you have just created.
9) Select the iTunes in the top left corner on the menu bar, open up preferences.
10) Under the General Tab find the Import Settings button. Click that and choose Import Using: MP3 Encoder. you only have to do that one time.
11) Now highlight the audio file (song) you just imported from GarageBand, and click on Advanced in the menu bar and choose Create MP3 Version. This will duplicate your audio file so there will be two (with the same name) in the iTunes music library. The bottom one will be your MP3 file.

12) Drag that file out to the desktop, and be sure it says .mp3 at the end of the filename.
You've just created an mp3 file!
