Dear 5th grade students,
You have been asked to go on a very special mission by our new president Barack Obama. He wants to become more familiar with cuisines and cultures from around the world. In order to achieve this he has asked our class to help out and create a cookbook with recipes from around the world for him and his White House staff to review and learn from. It is very important for their job to be able to understand these other cultures. Along with the recipes, he has also requested that you provide some history about the dishes and background about the country's culture.
You will be broken up into previously assigned groups of 4 and each group will be assigned a country that you will create your cookbook page for. You will create this page by using blogger and it will include an audio piece that will consist of you explaining how to prepare your dish of choice.
Through this project you will be exploring the history, culture, economics, tradition, and the traditional foods of your country. There will be daily assignments that I will post on this blogger site that will help guide you and help you in reaching the goal of your final project. You are expected to check this site daily and to keep up with the in class and homework assignments as well.
Have fun becoming chefs and cookbook authors for your president of the United States!
